One Day Tour - Xian
This tour is available daily and the start time can be adjusted at your request. Our tours typically start between 7am and 8:30am with your tour guide picking you up in the lobby of your hotel. At the end of the day we'll return you to your hotel.
We'll start our day by spending 2 hours exploring the sites in and around the Terracotta Army. The army was part of an elaborate mausoleum created to accompany the first emperor of China into the afterlife. It contains as many as 8,000 figures, but the exact total may never be known as excavation of the area has been halted. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity to see this world wonder with your own eyes. We'll then have lunch and head to the city wall.
Xian's city wall is the most complete wall that has survived in China and is one of the largest ancient military defensive systems in the world. Ancient weapons did not have the power to break through the wall and the only way for an enemy to enter the city was by attacking the gate. You'll have the opportunity to walk along the top of the wall or rent a bicycle to make the most of the hour that we'll spend there.
We'll then spend 1 hour at the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda which was originally built in 652 during the reign of Emperor Gaozong of the Tang Dynasty. It functioned to collect Buddhist treasures that were taken from India. Over the years the structure has been damaged by natural forces and rebuilt many times. The pagoda currently stands at a height of 64 m (210 ft) tall and from the top it offers beautiful views over the city.
